About the Opportunity
The District of Lake Country has an exciting opportunity for a permanent full-time Bylaw Services Officer (35 hours per week) based in Lake Country, BC.
Reporting to the Manager of Building and Bylaw, the Bylaw Services Officer is responsible for receiving public inquiries and complaints, research bylaws and Provincial Legislation, inspect property, issue warnings and municipal tickets, assist in the administration of business licenses, prepare correspondence and reports and make recommendations on enforcement of municipal bylaws.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited:
- Receiving and processing complaints including collection of relevant information and checking bylaws;
- Answering public and staff inquiries related to bylaws and policies;
- Issue orders, notices and municipal tickets as required.
More About You
To qualify for this role, you must have a minimum of two years’ work experience in bylaw position. Additionally, one-year post-secondary in a related field, Bylaw Enforcement, and Investigative Skills Levels 1 and 2 are required.
As our ideal candidate, you have a strong knowledge of the bylaws, policies and other legislation involving land use, traffic and nuisance matters. In addition, you have a strong ability in dealing with public inquiries including tactfully handling difficult situations.
