About the Opportunity
The District of Lake Country has an exciting opportunity for a permanent full-time Payroll Coordinator based in Lake Country, BC.
Reporting to the Manager of Finance, the Payroll Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the financial and accounting records of the municipality are accurately prepared and maintained in accordance with District policies, procedures and bylaws. The scope of work focuses primarily on payroll functions.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited:
- Coordinating, preparing, and processing payroll, including regular and year end reports, T4’s, and remittances for Union, Exempt, Council, and Paid on Call Fire, while ensuring accuracy and compliance with government legislation, collective agreements, bylaws, and corporate policies and practices;
- Enter and maintain payroll records and documentation of payroll functions for audit purposes, in accordance with legislative requirements;
- Research, resolve, respond to and recommend action on payroll and finance related inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
More About You
To qualify for this role, you must have a minimum of three years’ work experience in an accounting position, preferably in a payroll setting. Additionally, two years post-secondary in accounting or business administration is required, along with having completed the Canadian Payroll Compliance Professional Program.
As our ideal candidate, you have a strong knowledge of the policies, procedures and principles of payroll, collective agreements, and other related accounting duties. You have excellent skills in tactfully explaining or exchanging information and handling sensitive and highly confidential matters, with a keen attention to detail and organizational skills.

About the Benefits
- You will receive a competitive salary of $38.60 an hour per hour (2025 wage rate); A probation rate of 90% applies to the six-month probation period.
