The District of Lake Country has an exciting opportunity for a permanent full-time Gardener (40 hrs per week) based in Lake Country, BC.
Reporting to the Manager of Parks and Facilities the position involves the cultivation, propagation and maintenance of plants, shrubs and trees in District Parks, boulevards and around civic facilities.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Ensure all beds, planters, tree wells and landscaped areas are weeded
- Plan and perform proper parks maintenance for bedding plants, watering, tree maintenance, and lawn cutting;
- Participate in the design and layout of new planting areas;
- Practice urban forest management;
More About You
To qualify for this role, you must have completed a two-year technical or vocational school diploma in horticulture. Additionally, a Gardener is required to have a minimum of 2 years’ work experience in horticulture preferably in municipal parks setting. A valid British Columbia driver’s license is required.
As our ideal candidate, you have an exceptional ability to prioritize and manage timelines in a fast-paced work environment. You have a through knowledge of the theory and practices of horticulture. In addition, you have excellent skills in tactfully dealing with public inquiries.
