About the Opportunity
The District of Lake Country has an exciting opportunity for a part-time Recreation and Culture Assistant, based in Lake Country, BC. The Recreation and Culture Assistant will normally work an average of forty-two (42) hours each two-week period, on a flexible schedule of varying shift lengths which may include evening and weekend work.
Reporting to the Recreation Coordinator and the Cultural Development Coordinator, the Recreation and Culture Assistant, you will be responsible for providing general information to the public and providing support to the recreation and cultural departments in the planning, organization, and implementation of a variety of events, programs, and recreational initiatives in the community.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited:
- Assist in preparing, coordinating, and operating community events, including registration, marketing and production of community activity guide materials;
- Assist in the planning and delivery of programs such as, camps, events, leagues, and tournaments; including program marketing and production of promotional material;
- Support event planning by assisting in the preparation of contract, invoices, event budget tracking and end of event cash sheet reporting;
- Liaise with event staff, contractors, volunteers in order to provide on site direction and support leading up to events.
More About You
To qualify for this role, you must have a minimum of two years’ work experience in an, event planning, recreational services, or closely related field. Additionally, one year of education towards a college diploma in event planning, tourism, community recreation, public administration or a related field is required, along with having a valid BC Driver’s License and Serving it Right Certificate.
As our ideal candidate, you have excellent skills in tactfully dealing with public inquiries. You have sound organizational, research and time management skills as well as knowledge of records management.

About the Benefits
- You will receive a competitive salary of $33.18 (2024 rates) and as of April 1, 2025 a salary of $34.75 (2025 rates)
