About the Opportunity
The District of Lake Country has an exciting opportunity for a Water Quality Assistant Summer Student based in Lake Country, BC.
The Water Quality Assistant Summer Student will be asked to complete a wide range of tasks in support of the Water Quality and utilities crew.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited:
- collection of bacteriological and water samples, analyzing for water chemistry, calibration
- maintenance of on-line water quality monitoring equipment.
- Other tasks include maintaining accurate records of all work performed and data collection using Excel and Word to manage field data, update reports, and generate spreadsheets and graphs
Training will be provided before any staff is asked to complete a task or operate a piece of equipment.
More About You
To qualify for this role, you must possess a Valid Driver’s License. Steel toe boots are required. First aid ticket would be considered an asset. Preference will be given to candidates enrolled in either Water Quality Technology programs or other science related field.
You must fulfill the Canada Summer Jobs Criteria:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial legislation and regulations.
As our ideal candidate, you are self-reliant with the ability to work independently at times, as well as the ability to work within a regulated protocol environment, following rules and regulations.

- You will receive a competitive salary of $22.52 per hour (2025 rates) plus 17.4% in-lieu of all benefits

This position is 40 hours per week including weekends and evenings from May 1 – December 20, 2025 (approximate dates).
