About the Opportunity
The District of Lake Country has an exciting opportunity for a permanent full-time Engineering Technician I or II based in Lake Country, BC.
Reporting to the Manager of Development Engineering, the Engineering Technician (I or II) reviews the design, construction, inspection and maintenance of works and services required by development applications. The role will require working in the Development Engineering department in leading, coordinating and processing multi-disciplinary development files. As an Engineering Technician, you will provide technical and manual support for planning, design, operation, maintenance and general oversight of District civil infrastructure and services and support outside operations on a needs basis. Duties involve working collaboratively with District staff and external agencies, working with developers and their agents, and interacting with the public to provide great service. The position works in a fast-paced environment and requires a high degree of technical problem solving.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited:
- Coordinates and supports technical information for access and construction permits;
- Assists with reviewing and amending policy and process documentation;
- Reviews and analyzes proposed subdivision and development applications and other related construction plans;
- Prepares drawings, specifications, tender documents, coordination and monitoring of annual operational works and other similar projects as required.
More About You
To qualify for this role, you must have a minimum of an engineering technology diploma or related field and be eligible for a certificate of registration as an applied science technologist. Additionally, an Engineering Technician I is required to have a minimum of 2 years’ work experience in engineering planning and design with municipal systems and services or an Engineering Technician II is required to have a minimum of 5 years’ related experience. A valid British Columbia driver’s license is required.

- You will receive a competitive salary of $38.79 (Technician I) or $43.12 (Technician II) an hour (2024 wage rate); A probation rate of 90% applies to the six-month probation period.
