Full-time Permanent Vacancy – Tax Clerk
About the Opportunity
The District of Lake Country has an exciting opportunity for a permanent full-time Tax Clerk (35 hrs per week) based in Lake Country, BC.
Reporting to the Manager of Finance, you will be responsible for property taxation functions and support to the financial department.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited:
- Ensuring the financial and accounting records of the municipality are accurate prepared and maintained in accordance with the District policies, procedures, and bylaws;
- Preparing annual property tax and penalty levies, various tax sale documentation and batch information for the general ledger;
- Answer public and internal inquiries relating to property tax, financial, bylaw and policy matters.
More About You
To qualify for this role, you must have a minimum of two years’ work experience in accounting or business administration. Additionally, two years of post-secondary in accounting or business administration. Municipal property tax experience preferred.
As our ideal candidate, you have excellent skills in tactfully dealing with public inquiries. You have superior organizational, research and time management skills. In addition, you have excellent mathematical skills as well as knowledge of records management.
Above all, we value a collaborative attitude and exceptional communication skills, an ability to foster positive working relationships with staff and tactfully conveying information to the public.
