Permanent Vacancy – Parks Maintenance Operator I
About the Opportunity
The District of Lake Country has an exciting opportunity for a permanent full-time Parks Maintenance Operator I based in Lake Country, BC.
Reporting to the Parks & Facilities Crew Leader, under the direction of the Manager of Parks & Facilities, the Parks Maintenance Operator I performs a variety of tasks in the day-to-day preparation, cleaning and maintenance of sports fields, parks, and green spaces within the District.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Performs parks maintenance duties, including planting, weeding, edging, cutting lawns, cleanup of public areas, beach cleaning and garbage collection;
- Operate and maintain the parks maintenance equipment;
- Assists in the installation, maintenance and winterizing of all underground irrigation systems;
- Assist with maintenance of other facilities and grounds;
- Clean and maintain municipal buildings, parks, grounds, and equipment, including minor construction, renovations and improvements.

More About You
To qualify for this role, you must have a Grade 12 education and a minimum of one years’ experience in parks maintenance, horticulture or arboriculture or related experience, and a Basic First Aid Certificate. Additionally, a valid British Columbia Driver’s License (Class 5) and a satisfactory Police Information Check is required.
As our ideal candidate, you have general knowledge of construction or underground irrigation systems or landscape gardening or equipment operation. Working knowledge in the operation of small equipment, such as chainsaws, lawnmowers, weed eaters.
