About the Opportunity
The District of Lake Country has an exciting opportunity for a Communications Summer Student based in Lake Country, BC.
Reporting to the Senior Advisor Intergovernmental Relations, the Communications student will primarily support the Communications Lead and Officers in a variety of day-to-day tasks.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Supporting the creation and publishing of social media content across District channels.
- Monitoring social media platforms, assisting with tracking performance metrics, and preparing regular summary reports.
- Supporting the development of proactive communications content, including drafting website updates, news releases, and promotional materials.
This role will contribute to improving the accuracy, accessibility, and consistency of communications.
More About You
To qualify for this role, you must have completed your first year of a diploma or degree program in a related discipline with plans to return in the fall of 2026.
As our ideal candidate, you have strong attention to detail and organizational skills. The position requires self motivation, basic computer skills and the ability to work independently. Your willingness to learn and adapt to a fast paced environment will be beneficial. Familiarity with records management principles is an asset.

About the Benefits
- You will receive a competitive salary of $23.20 (2026 rates) per hour plus 17.4% in-lieu of all benefits.
- You may be eligible for a bursary of $1000 at the completion of the term.

This position can work up to 40 hours per week, which may include weekends and evenings, from May 1 – August 31, 2026 (approximate dates).
