About the Opportunity
The District of Lake Country has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Public Works Paving Crew Lead based in Lake Country, BC.
Reporting to the Public Works Construction Superintendent, the Public Works Paving Crew Lead is responsible for leading and coordinating paving and asphalt maintenance activities for District of Lake Country roads, pathways and public infrastructure. This position ensures that paving operations are performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with municipal standards, specifications and regulations, while maintaining high-quality workmanship and minimizing disruption to the public. Although supervisory in nature, the position works alongside the Paving Crew.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Supervises paving crew employees and assists with scheduling and assigning work;
- Performs maintenance and repair of roads, sidewalks, boulevards, ditches, storm drainage, bridges, right-of-way and parks;
- Coordinates and conducts shouldering, ditching and drainage project inspections;
- Coordinates and inspects winter snow maintenance activities including snow removal;
- Assists in preparing reports, providing cost estimates and participates in operational budget preparation;
- Maintains and ensures compliance with District bylaws, Provincial regulations and Departmental safety program;
- Liaise and monitor sub-contractors for compliance with construction contracts;
- Operates equipment, orders supplies, and tool management;
- Responds to emergencies and is available on-call.
More About You
To qualify for this role, you must have a minimum of two years Civil Engineering or related post-secondary education. Additionally, a Public Works Paving Crew Lead is required to have a minimum of four years work experience in asphalt paving maintenance or construction, preferrable in a municipal setting, with two years of supervisory experience. A valid British Columbia driver’s license is required with Class 3 preferred.
