About the Opportunity
The District of Lake Country has an exciting opportunity for a permanent full-time Human Resources Advisor, based in Lake Country, BC.
Reporting to the Manager of Human Resources and Safety, the primary responsibility of the Human Resources Advisor is to provide advice and guidance to managers, unionized employees, and their representatives to ensure consistency and appropriate implementation of best practices, the collective agreement, District policies and statutory requirements as they relate to human resources and safety. The Human Resources Advisor administers the day-to-day human resource activities, develops practices, and foster effective working relationships. The Human Resources Advisor is accountable for a variety of human resource activities including staffing, planning and administration, employee relations, and compensation. The Human Resources Advisor will carry out these responsibilities while maintaining positive employee and labour relations and supporting human resources and safety strategic projects and initiatives.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provides and coordinates full cycle recruitment, orientation and onboarding;
- Coordinates with benefit providers and administers the benefits program;
- Oversees disability management, absenteeism, management, Long Term Disability cases and Return to Work plans;
- Coordinates staff development and training events;
- Assists with Collective Agreement administration;
- Provides advice and support regarding policies, procedures and programs.
More About You
To qualify for this role, you must have a degree in Human Resources or a related field of study and a minimum of three years’ of work experience as a HR generalist, preferably in a public sector unionized environment. A CPHR designation will be considered an asset. A valid BC Drivers License is also required.
As our ideal candidate, you have sound knowledge of the Employment Standards Act, human rights, WorkSafe BC regulations, legal precedents and collective agreements. You are an exceptional communicator, both written and verbal, and skilled in dealing with highly confidential matters with courtesy and diplomacy.
