About the Opportunity

The District of Lake Country has an exciting opportunity for a Term (35 hours per week) Bylaw Services Officer for an approximate 5-month term, based in Lake Country, BC. This position will be required to work evening and weekend shifts.

 

Reporting to the Manager of Bylaw and Building Services, you will be responsible for responding to public inquiries and complaints, researching bylaws and Provincial Legislation, inspecting property, issuing warnings and municipal tickets, preparing correspondence and reports and making recommendations on enforcement of municipal bylaws.

 

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited:

  • Ability to diplomatically and tactfully respond to public and staff inquiries relating to bylaws and policies.
  • Proficiency in receiving and processing complaints including detailed records maintenance.
  • Inspection of businesses and properties in relation to business license applications.
  • Issue orders, notices and municipal tickets as required.
  • Attendance at various community events in support of public safety.

More About You

To qualify for this role, you must have a minimum of two years’ work experience as a bylaw enforcement officer or police officer and one year post-secondary education in a related field.  Additionally, Bylaw Enforcement & Investigative Skills Levels 1 and 2, along with a valid Class 5 British Columbia Driver’s License.

 

As our ideal candidate, you have excellent communication skills in tactfully dealing with public inquiries and handling difficult matters. You are a self-starter and have excellent research skills combined with a keen attention to detail and organization.

About the Benefits

  • You will receive a competitive salary of $44.17 (2026 Rate) per hour, plus 17.4% in lieu of all benefits inclusive of sick time, vacation, statutory holidays, and pension
