About the Opportunity
The District of Lake Country has an exciting opportunity for a GIS Student Technician based in Lake Country, BC.
The student will support the organization in its Geographic Information System (GIS) services. Using your GIS knowledge and skills, you will use applicable software to support the organization with projects and GIS tasks.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited:
- Web development – JavaScript, HTML
- Data Modelling – ESRI Geodatabases
- Data Maintenance – ArcGIS Pro
- Maintaining and utilizing the Districts ArcGIS online account, including building web mapping applications with out-of-box templates, ArcGIS Experience Builder, Survey 123 and Field Maps
- Producing Paper Map Products
- Applying your strong customer service skills as you respond to GIS related inquiries and requests from internal staff
- Communicate problems and identify deficiencies and suggest solutions to GIS data related issues
More About You
To qualify for this role, you must be enroll in a GIS program or other related discipline with plans to return in the fall of 2026. A valid Driver’s License is required. Experience with ESRI platform is required.

You must fulfill the Canada Summer Jobs Criteria:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial legislation and regulations.

About the Benefits
• You will receive a competitive salary of $23.20 (2026 rates) per hour plus 17.4% in-lieu of all benefits
